ATWIMA NWABIAGYA NORTH DISTRICT COMMENCED ONE WEEK CLEAN UP EXERCISE

A week long sanitation exercise within sixteen (16) electoral areas in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District in the Ashanti Region has been commenced.

The District Chief Executive Officer for Atwima Nwabiagya North, Hon. Rebecca Yeboah has officially lunched a one week clean up exercise within her jurisdiction.

The activity which is the first of its kind kick-start during the early hours of yesterdayday 30th March 2019 at Asuofua-Asamang electoral area and has been programmed to cover all the remaining 16 electoral areas within the district.

She said the exercise, according to the plan of the assembly will be carried out intermittently through all communities on Saturdays marked across the various electoral area.

On an interview to damaksanitationwatch reporter ( Robert Ampofo), during the cleaning exercise, Hon Rebecca stated clearly that the move in question was called to play following the abysmal standard of sanitation witnessed by the district.

"Dumping of refuse at unapproved areas, littering etc is due to lack of education on Sanitation and indiscipline". She said.

Choked drainage system, flood among other environmental challenges characterise a number of communities within the district, adding that before her assumption as the DCE, the condition of sanitation was totally an eyesore.

She said she is ever ready to support President Akuffo Addo’s effort towards the nationwide sanitation policies
