TRADERS GOT UPSET AT CITY AUTHORITIES OVER BAD STATE OF THE KUMASI RACECOURSE MARKET

According to them,  they have been thrown into a state of disarray whether they should go back to trade on the major streets of the Kumasi metropolis or to stay and trade in the stagnant waters at where they have been compelled to trade at by the city authorities.

Speaking on an interview with some of the traders on Tuesday 11th June, 2019 at the market by Damak Sanitation and Health News, they complained bitterly about how the bad state of the market has affected their business whenever it rains. They said their customers do refused to buy from them due to the bad nature of the Racecourse Market environment especially during rainy season.

Other information gathered by Damak Sanitation and Health News revealed that, after the traders were relocated from various major street of the Kumasi Metropolis to trade at the Racecourse Market, numerous appeal have been made by the traders to the Kumasi metropolitan chief executive officer, Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah and other stakeholders to complete cover the moody surface of the market with chippings to ensure  traders get a good and conducive environment to transact their business but the authorities of the city gave a dead ear to the call. It's also noted that, the small part of the Racecourse Market where the moody surface was covered with chippers have been washed away by erosion due to shoddy work done by the city Engineers.

The Traders are therefore appealing  on government openly to come to their aid because the nature of the market is always driving their customers away rending financial crisis on them.

Per Damak Sanitation and Health News observation, the situation of the Racecourse Market is not in a Hygienic condition, hence, Damak Sanitation and Health News is calling on the Kumasi City authorities to give a hearing ear to the Racecourse Market Traders call on the bad state of the market.
