Traders overwhelming received the wife of Otumfour Osei Tutu II, Lady Julia Osei Tutu during her visit to Bantama market on Friday, June 29, 2018, where grand gathering were organized at the center of the market.
Lady Julia was amazed about the performance of the KMA Mayor, Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi, hence, throwing her weight behind him on the relocation exercise the Assembly is embarking on.
Lady Julia expressed her support fully in any legal action that will beautify Kumasi and Asanteman in general.
She made this statement when she visited the Traders at Bantama with her entourage together with the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly Chief Executive to receive first hand information as part of the measures put in place to restored Kumasi "The Garden City".
Addressing the grand gathering, the Wife of Asantehene, Lady Julia said Manhiya Palace and herself, attaches importance to the wellbeing of traders in Kumasi, hence, she took a decision to visit and lead the crusade in addressing the impending challenges confronting them.
Lady Julia also recommended the Chief Executive of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Hon Osei Assibey Antwi for his move to resurface the Kumasi the capital city of the Ashanti Region.
According to her, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, wants to see Kumasi properly developed to modern city standard, she sees Osei Assibey as being the rightful person to do that.
‘’ The Kumasi Mayor’s relocation exercise is very good for Kumasi, so I would therefore called on the traders and the people of Kumasi to support the move to keep the city clean and green ”. Also expressing her gratefulness to the Mayor for resolving traders’ relocation problems.
Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi, the Mayor of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly on his part, expressed his gratitude to Lady Julia for her tremendous humanitarian service with regards to put a smile in the face of the needy.
Hon Osei Assibey stressed on the reason to keep the Central Business District clean and developed. He further briefed the Wife of Otumfuo about the state of all the satellite markets in Kumasi and said most of the markets will soon reopen for traders.
He disclosed that within two weeks the assembly is going to move all traders on the street of Bantama to race course to pave way for roads construction.
Osei Assibey vowed that, the assembly will not tolerate the selling of goods in any street, including all forecourts, roads, footways and other areas next to streets in the Kumasi Metropolis.
He told the gathering that, the Ashanti Regional Security Council has deployed a security team to assist officials of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to protect various markets.
